EPE PIC Met Office by John Becker ================================= EPE Magazine August 2003/ September 2003 This very advanced constructional project uses a wide variety of sensors and free added-value Windows software to provide you with a comprehensive snapshot of prevailing weather conditions. The EPE PIC Met Office (Meteorological Office) is both a stand-alone LCD display unit as well as being PC compatible, to display an extensive array of parameters: - barometric pressure - temperature - atmospheric relative humidity - soil moisture - light intensity - rainfall, realtime and cumulative - wind direction - wind chill factor - rainbow alert :-) - recording to NV memory - select sampling rate - serial output to PC, eg for Excel - alphanumerical instantaneous LCD display There is nothing quite like the EPE PIC Met Office, our most ambitious and advanced weather monitoring system ever! Surprisingly easy to build due to the PIC 16F777 microcontroller and PCB design, the project can be assembled by any hobbyist with some soldering and constructional experience. Parts are available from the usual component sources. Please note that EPE does not provide kits but many of the requirements can be met by our advertisers. The latest version of the software is available from ftp://ftp.epemag.wimborne.co.uk/pub/PICS/PICMetOffice Please refer to the EPE web site for details of ordering back issues, subscriptions etc. http://www.epemag.wimborne.co.uk Last updated 11th July 2003
